Blingo is an interesting spin on the Google search engine that allows you to earn money by searching for the things you normally would through Google. Using a customized Google plugin the search engine gets money by using Google searches to serve results, while also using Google AdSense to serve advertisements. The result is simply a different looking Google search engine that happens to also allow people to win prizes, every 15 minutes or so they give out prizes such as Amazon gift cards to random searchers. The users of the search engine can also win bigger prizes such as $500 cash or even a new car.
The great idea behind is it that the more friends you invite, the better your chance of getting a prize because any prize won by somebody you invited, you will also win that prize. It’s a great concept that was eventually bought out by the Publishers Clearing House, the best part about the service is that you don’t enter any personal details such as name/address until you’ve actually won a prize, which guarantee’s privacy. I use it instead of Google for my day to day searches now (in Firefox or IE7 you can set it to be your default search engine).
